2. The word f*ck was invented on the Berkley campus in the early
60's during the Free Speech demonstrations. It was picked up by hippies, then by the police who learned it while beating on hippies. It moved into the military because so many cops are reservists.

Later, many hippies had to get work and became junior high and high school teachers. That's how it spread among the youth of America.

Like the word jazz, there is much speculation as to the origin and meaning of the word f*ck. Given our obsessions, most people postulate that it has some sexual connotation. In truth, it was a nonsense word made up to show the harmlessness of words during the Free Speech movement.

You think I'm making this up? Just check out a copy of Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead. It documents that up through WWII, when people were under high stress, they uttered the word "fug".
