YOGA PORN! Do any women anywhere do yoga to Namaste Yoga or belly dance to Shimmy? NO! |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 02:43 PM by HamdenRice
I occasionally come across these shows while flipping past FitTV -- one "fitness" show that purports to provide "do it along with" type yoga instruction, and the other "fitness" show that provides the same for belly dancing. I find it extremely unlikely that any women actually work out with these shows -- for one thing, they're really advanced and fast paced.
Some time ago, the New Yorker revealed that the biggest demographic for Food Channel shows was young men who never cooked. They just liked to imagine having something good to eat, or were attracted to Rachel or Giada.
My sneaking suspicion is that Namaste Yoga and Shimmy are geared entirely toward a guy audience watching these very beatiful, fit (and in the case of Shimmy) voluptuous women "work out." The production values are astounding, and they look like they are "working out" inside surreal video games!
There, I said it. Nobody really does Yoga to Namaste Yoga and no one belly dances to Shimmy.

2. I've done the Namaste Yoga |
|
But I've also been doing Pilates for a couple of years, so I'm not exactly a beginner.

3. So I guess there are women who do it? |
|
Are we talking about the same show -- the one with the really surreal settings?
I still believe that the overwhelming majority of viewers are men.

I tried it a couple of times. But the constant changes in scenery were distracting.

5. No guy is attracted to Rachel. Sorry. They just don't... |
|
...or at least after hearing her talk for five minutes, they don't.

6. I did "Lilas!" yoga for years, until my PBS station stopped showing it. |
|
So, if I got "Namaste Yoga", I'd prob'ly do it.

9. I recently discovered 'Shimmy.' |
|
I would love to be able to bellydance, especially if I could use it to mesmerize my husband. I love the outfits.

11. My wife watches Shimmy, she like watching Belly Dancing |
|
She likes the show and she likes it for the dancing
As far as it being Yoga porn, I put it in the category of it being exactly what the view wants it to be.
If the viewer gets titillated and considers it Yoga porn, that's what it will be.
On the other hand, if the viewer sees a dance show, that's what they'll get.
