2. Count me in!
Dial-up and less than cutting edge computer makes me no fan of youtube though.
Is it Live at the El Mocambo 1983? That is one hell of a show, I love it!
I like his brother Jimmy too but he's no Stevie Ray.

7. Isn't there a new CD out of Stevie playing with other people?
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 09:32 AM by kwassa
The cut I heard on XM Radio this morning I originally saw in video on youtube.
Stevie with Albert King, B.B. King, and Paul Butterfield performing "The Sky is Crying".

8. SRVand Jeff Beck.......Goin down....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdZp2echcKs

In Sacramento, i saw SRV get booed off the stage in about 1981. He opened for the red Rocker Sammy Hagar. People hated SRV. some dued playing the blues. Played three songs and the boos just became deafening. He was kind of not famous at the time and the Blues were not well recieved then.

Sammy told the crowd off. Told them he personally asked Stevie to play and thay we all should be ashamed. Sammy played a very short pissed off show.

Now, round here, whenever someone talks about SRV, I ask them if they went to that show. A lot of times they did. But they don't remember it was SRV that got booed off the stage. When I tell em they are amazed and you can tell that they were all part of it.

12. I saw him way back when....
...and he was the warm-up band for the headliner. Funny, I remember him, and to this day, can't remember the "headlining" band I went there to see. I guess posterity has a way of showing who was important, and who wasn't.

14. Leave it to Hagar fans not to have any musical taste.
Glad Sammy himself knew better though. I don't usually give him credit for much, but kudos to him for that one.

17. I saw that show

It was in the Cal Expo Grandstands, and Y&T started off that show. I was there because my girlfriend at the time was a big Sammy fan. I was blown away by this dude I'd never heard of before, and shocked at the crowd.

All I remember about Hagar was that he climbed up into the stage rigging.

No one I ever tell this story to can ever believe that SRV got booed off a stage. :(

18. Yeah that was so funny.......
especially when you are talking to someone YOU KNOW booed him that night, and is now a big SRV fan......I saw SRV many times at blues festivals and the like before he ever got famous (or the blues became popular with white rockers types) again.
