1. a nice piece but has bad associations for me.....
I used to play viola and our part was a incredibly repetititve pizzicato part that usually left a blister on my finger...

2. ouch!
sorry. I thought you were going to say that you were stood up at your wedding . . . so I guess a blister is better than that?

11. Then you played a weird arrangement.
Normally the 1st and 2nd violin and the viola all play the same thing, one after another. While the cello plays the 8 note bassline... over and over and over again.

6. Classical Music, most of it anyway, is a real stress reliever for me
I listen to it a lot on the way home from work, especially if it was a paticularly stressful day. Thanks for the idea. I am now listening to this version:

7. I hear it too often with brides coming down the aisle.
So I don't exactly connect it with stress relief. :)

Barber's Adagio mellows me out. I know it is supposed to be depressing, but I find it so relaxing.

14. The Prince of Denmark March is the one I connect with brides coming down the aisle

Or maybe Purcell's Trumpet Tune http://youtube.com/watch?v=ngn77Nl9HIk&feature=related

But so far, I'm still very fond of Pachelbel.

8. I've got a pretty extensive collection of classical music, and it includes
probably 19 or 20 recordings of the Canon. In every imaginable variation: full orchestra, chamber group, brass quintet, solo flute, mixed chorus, men's choir, synthesizer, solo harp, you name it. It's my most favorite piece of all time.

As is typical of legendarily popular pieces of music, Pachelbel himself didn't think much of it. It was just a Canon and Gigue he tossed off once, and it was rarely performed in his own lifetime.
