How about a stricture thread...In honor of the wingnuts?
Catastrophism has long been an important tenet of creationism as an alternative theory to Darwinian gradualism (uniformitarianism). The theory of catastrophism was introduced by the French comparative anatomist and founder of the science of paleontology Georges Cuvier (1769-1832). He believed that each species originated independently and remained unchanged until it became extinct.
