Is there a contest for biggest asshole boss? Because I want to enter my boss in it
Despite being down with a nasty bug this week, I showed up to work Tuesday and Wednesday to get the paper out. Without me, it doesn't get done, and the whole business is screwed. Wednesday, I couldn't even hold food down, but I somehow got the paper out.

My boss came along with extra work for me that came in long after deadline, despite knowing that I was barely able to sit up straight. Somehow, he was offended by my lack of enthusiasm, and developed an ugly attitude. He didn't say thanks or goodbye or anything at all when I announced I was leaving after my second consecutive 8-hour day whilst being sick as a dog, having put out his paper and kept his business afloat for another week. I went home with a fever, and while I was throwing up my dinner, he was bad-mouthing me to my co-workers, who were incredulous and apoplectic about the whole thing.

This is a guy who, seeing a mule break down under a load of bricks, would add more bricks to the load and curse the mule for being worthless. What an asshole.

3. yes indeed, vomit on his desk.
Crap in your pants and complain about it. Then if he complains about the smell you can tell him that smell wouldn't be there unless he was pushing you too hard.

4. Yours beats my
'everyone is out to get me' and making accusations out of thin air on a fishing expedition to see what people are saying about her.

I agree with the "Vomit on his desk" idea.

5. Here's my story (why we left the company):
Both Mrs. Rat and I were employed by the same IT consulting firm, and I was between assignments, with several new assignments waiting (the company was awaiting my decision on which contract I would take). Mrs Rat's great grandmother had just passed away, and we needed 48-72 hours to attend services and be with family. I told the firm we needed this time alone and would be unavailable for those 48-72 hours. My recruiter, who was hot to get me on a particular contract, kept calling and calling. I ended up telling him to stop calling me, and I temporarily blocked his numbers from my cell (all this on a two-hour drive to the funeral). I also told him not to call Mrs. Rat, either. As we are pulling into the funeral home, Mrs. Rat checks her cell to see if any family have called her and...there are six calls and two voicemails from my recruiter telling Mrs. Rat to have me call him. When I specifically told him not to do that. On the day of her grandmother's funeral. I left the company within a week; Mrs. Rat and friend I had brought to the company left within a month.

6. I know a guy whose parents used to do an "asshole of the year" award every newyears...
in which one of their social circle was recognized and saluted for outstanding acts of drunken idiocy during the year. Think of it as a impromptu newyears roast.

7. My car broke down. I have to start work at 6:30. (Our hours are
6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) I was taking the bus. Twice the bus drove right past me, didn't stop. Twice it broke down and never showed up. Then on other days it would miss the early connection because the driver was a worthless asshole and was late. Long story short, I was late (twice by 1/2 hour), but generally only by a couple of minutes. We have 3 minutes leeway, and then we're late and get a point for a tardy if you call in and let them know you're gonna be late. You get 2 points for not calling in. Anyway, I made it to work every fucking day and any tardiness was not my fault. But she gave me the points and wrote me up. She also didn't give me my sick pay hours (which is no big deal because you get points if you use 'em). Anyway, two more points and I'm suspended for three days without pay. Five more, I'm terminated. And this goes against my raise next year. (The kicker? The time clock is early by at least three minutes.)

My main gripe is that even though I WAS late by a couple of minutes this winter due to the way the busses run, she was coming in at anywhere from 6:45 to 7:45 or 7:50. Of course being management she can do that. And not get any points.
