At tonights game between the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Connecticut Defenders, I shook hands with a baseball legend: Johnny Pesky!
Johnny Pesky was the shortstop for the 1946 AL Champion Red Sox, and has served the ball club as a player, coach, manager, instructor, and broadcaster. Some of my earliest sports memories are of watching Pesky call Sox games with my father and grandfather on Channel 4 out of Boston.
This is the guy who played with Ted Williams and taught Jim Rice and Nomar Garciaparra. He IS baseball history. I'm still excited about having had just a few seconds with him!
