BTW: What is this show about? A saw a DVD cover and instantly thought "Crude, superficial, modern attempt to be funny by laughing at people who aren't pretty enough to be fashion models."

Betty is an "average girl" who works in the offices of a fashion magazine. She doesn't pay much attention to her looks or clothes--she has more important things to do (finding romance, keeping her father from being deported, helping her sister). Early on in the show, it was made clear that she realizes she could make more of an effort on her apperance, but she doesn't see the point. She pops the superficial bubbles of a lot of the people around her.

and Vanessa Williams and her assistant are absolutely hysterically funny as the main villains
the script is tight and full of great wisecracks and one liners
