1. I read both mine and my domestic partner's books.
They're interesting :)

3. I had that impression when I went to college too.
Dormmates running around like chickens with their heads cut off. "OMG I have a test what am I gonna do?" "Uh, read the book?." My father, a professor, roared with laughter and said, "Yes! READ THE FUCKING BOOK!"

5. It's been years but I still remember some completely un-readable texts from undergrad.
Particularly some history and political science books. Topics the authors could have made so exciting yet just sat there.

7. Depends on the book.
After the first month or two of class I stopped using my math textbook because the teacher taught us everything we needed to know, and the only assignments that were graded were the ones that weren't from the book.

On the other hand, I've failed history tests before because I got so engrossed in what I was reading that I read ahead and accidentally answered questions on the test about greek culture with answers from roman culture. :P

18. I can relate to that.
I'm currently reading my Study Skills book because the teacher barely covers anything in class. She just talks all day and covers the bare minimum.

8. Math textbooks
I was lousy at math, and hated it, because the instructors lost me with their class lectures. In desperation, I started reading the explanations in the text, and voila, math wasn't so hard after all. Actually got an A+ on a calculus exam once.

15. I held onto one of my Aquinistic philosophy books after college. It cured my insomnia.
God bless you, St Thomas Aquinas!

19. Depends upon the book.

Some are great. Some are borderline unreadable. I distinctly remember throwing the book for one of my freshman courses (philosophy) into a wall in disgust.
