After buying a freezer, I was asked to show my receipt |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-11-08 01:59 PM by Orrex
The greeter was courteous enough, but so what? I declined, muttering something irrelevant about my Civil Rights, and I howled my indignation. The greeter called for the manager.
While we were waiting, I took time to blog about my experience, painting myself as the innocent, injured victim while griping about the hegemony of corporate America and the irrelevance of private property and loss control.
Then the manager showed up and likewise courteously asked to see my receipt. Again I declined.
At this point, they started spouting some nonsense about corporate policy, so I killed both of them with my bare hands, stuffed them into my freezer, and brought them home. They're now chilling quite comfortably in my basement, to preserve freshness.
Honestly, what else could I have done in that situation?

2. Well, that was the best part! |
|
In one stroke, I resolved the confrontation and justified the purchase of the freezer!

3. You should have killed them with the freezer (crushed them with it). |
|
Then you could have displayed the inherent dangers of our consumer-driven society, and how, ultimately, it crushes even those who work to support it (sometimes literally).

|
I'd have got going so fast there was no way to stop.
Just scream 'No breaks!' as you zip by the greeter.

9. I believe there are state laws that require employees to take breaks. |
|
The greeter is entitled to the protection of the law just like anyone else. :-)
"Get outta my way" or "no brakes!" might be a more appropriate thing to yell on your way past, otherwise he will just think you are anti-labor.

I have previously been asked for a receipt after making a purchase.
Is that better?

12. Did you have to purchase a meat cleaver from housewares to get them in the freezer? |
|
If so, we will need to see that receipt, also.

18. Well, I stole the cleaver |
|
It's cheaper that way, and after I've hacked them to bits, I can say "I don't own a cleaver" without having to worry about a pesky receipt showing up.
