3. I went to one my freshman year of college |
|
of course it was on campus, so it wasn't too intense or anything like that. It was really fun, actually - really laid-back, you could choose which games you wanted to play and play for as long as you wanted, and I went with a friend who knew more about gambling than I did so I had his expertise to help me out. ;) I actually won something, too - at the end of the night, they did a drawing with all of our tickets, and I won a ginormous box of paperclips! Good times. :D I hope you have fun tonight!

The best part was when the next day, one of my hallmates (who hadn't been at the casino night) came by my room and asked if I had a paperclip she could borrow. I burst out laughing, and then explained to her why it was so funny...eventually I think I ended up giving her a handful of paperclips and telling her that if she needed more, she knew where to find me! :P :hi:

It was part of a fundraiser for the Houston International Seafarers' Center, and we had a wonderful time. All play money, of course.
Tonight: Astros game. Maybe they can beat the Marlins. Maybe not.

It was a lot of fun. Sit down and play some blackjack, I'm sure someone will help you out.

8. I was a blackjack dealer at one |
|
I'm not a gambler, so I had to learn about splits and double-downs.
The way we ran it, to keep it all legal, everyone bought chits and played with those, then cashed in their winnings on prizes that were donated.
The dealers dressed the part — white shirt, bow tie, arm band. It was a lot of fun. :)

11. Heh, I went to one with sucker dealers |
|
(sadly it was all play money for cheapo prizes - I won a duffle bag)
Roulette and blackjack: Every so often, they would ring a bell signaling that all bets in the next spin/hand payed double. The more astute dealers would refuse all new bets for that round after the bell, but most of them didn't. So you could just put half your stack on red, half on black, and have a 95% chance of a 150% payout. (oh, you also got your bet returned on green, so you were at least guaranteed to break even.) And they did this every 20 minutes or so. I had an insane pile of chips by the end of the evening.
Too bad they're not running a craps table - they are very conducive to a party atmosphere and a lot of fun.
