Hrm...I have to write a statement for a Scholarship Application...
About my interest in Economics, and where I see my future in Economics heading. Not sure how to do this. I'm hoping to avoid any cheesiness or cliches, but I want it to be interesting. It's not due until Tuesday, and it only has to be 500 words or less.

I can haz thinking cap? kthzbai.

:P

3. I've been scouting scholarships
Some of them ask for the most ridiculous essays. I think they want to see how cleverly you can bullshit your way through however many words.

I also wonders who gets stuck reading them. I mean, they must get a lot of apps and I'll bet a lot of the essays are horrible. That would either be a terribly amusing job or a terribly dull one.

Good luck with it, at any rate. :hi:

5. I used to read them as an undergrad.
Scary. Actually, I was just pre-screening. If you eliminate the ones with bad grammar, spelling, or incoherent sentences; youse get left wid 5 oar ten. Those end up before the selection committee.

7. Well, in as few words as possible
What is your interest in Economics?

Where do you see your future in Economics heading?

Economics is, in its purest form, a very basic science that is then the header in a flowchart of nightmarish proportions. I'd make your statement in the same way. Then, you can use as few or as many words as you want.

9. Heh...when I applied for a scholarship from a women's organization, I went all Lifetime on them.
In other words--it was 2 pages of deliberate cheesiness and cliches. I'd had nothing but uncomfortable interactions with the organization and decided I would respond in kind.

I didn't get the scholarship (honestly? I don't think I would have qualified anyway--the person who did win it had dire financial need and I don't)...but it was fun to apply.
