MONK's shrink died. what tv or movie shrink should replace him on show?
I'm thinking he should go through a series of famous candidates that he rejects for various reasons like Melfi from Sopranos, Bob Newhart, and Hannbal Lecter.

Any others to add to the list?

It would also be worthwhile to cast a permanent replacement. Who would be good in the chair opposite Monk long term?

2. Actually, a series of guest celebrities as new shrinks would be a fine idea
I don't think they need to have played a shrink on another show however.

3. I can't think of a TV shrink
but I would like to see a female shrink that is even smarter than he is. One that can really challenge him.

5. Ed Begley Jr........

I don't know if he has ever portrayed a shrink but, I would like
to see him in a semi-recurring role.

9. I think some cameos by other TV
shrinks would be interesting. And I like the idea of him deciding on a woman shrink (as long a she doesn't look too much like Trudy).
Maybe the other shink from L&O (can't recall her name).

42. I absolutely detest the show and...
I figure Al Swearengen (Deadwood) know how to deal with Monk, the rest of the cast and the writers.
If that sounds harsh, I guess it's because it is.

16. Bring Sharona back as Monk's shrink
After all, wasn't Sharona supposed to be a nurse? Explain her absence as training to be a psychiatrist. It'd make for an interesting dynamic with the change in roles and the difference in Monk's relationship with Sharona as assistant and Natalie as assistant.

Actress Jane Lynch plays Dr Freemen, a psychiatrist that sees Charlie on occasion. She would make a good choice.
