Need help eliminating black mold. |
|
A guest brought it to our guest room. There's none visible to the eye but it's there.
This is way downstream from merely opening the windows and airing out the room. I've already thrown out pictures and cloth items.
I've tried lots of Lysol spray and am wondering if I just need to do more of that.
I seem to remember that I can seal off the room and use some kind of bomb.
What's worked for you? Thanks.

generally, water brings mold not guests.
and if you can't see it, how do you know it is there?

Black mold is not something that can thrive if there isn't the moisture to feed it. It seems improbable that a guest could bring it to your home if the conditions weren't there to support it. I believe chlorine bleach would work better than lysol to eliminate it. Good Luck

3. Bleach helps, I believe. |
|
But that shit is really hard to kill. Definitely use bleach, and an antifungal spray of some kind.

Don't you have to call in professionals to remove it?
Garden variety brown mold spots that you see from time to time are easy to get rid of with heat, light, and a little clorox. But black mold. That stuff is toxic.
It's not not something a visitor brings; you've got water damage somewhere.

6. All of the suggestions are good. |
|
Heat lamps and UV light help. Stir up any spots that you see, before applying agents. Bleach/Tilex works. Use a wire brush or scrubber pad. However since you mentioned that you don’t see it and you have the Dalai Lama as your avatar; I suggest a cleansing.

10. More info and thanks for the suggestions. |
|
We visited Falling Water, the Frank Lloyd Wright house and it was visible in the garage area which was apart from the house itself.
I'll look into uv light, will try bleach and will call professionals.
Thanks for your kind responses, old friends and new.

with a strong water/bleach. How do you know it is there if you cannot see it? I have never heard of invisible black mold. Not being sarcastic, just curious. Good luck.
