The kids are gone for the week visiting my parents for Spring Break. My dog Emma can NOT relax and is pacing around the house when not shoving her face into my side. She doesn't like it when part of the pack is missing.

Me? I'm sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the silence. Oooooommmmm

Her ALS is progressing, unfortunately, but not as fast as some. It was a very exhausting 3.5 hour appt. on Friday, for both of us. Lots to do. She'll be getting a talking typewriter, which will be a huge thing for her. She's so frustrated at not being able to talk and communicate.

What a lovely and soulful chapter. I can so relate to Jane, whose quiet existence was shaken up by a singular moment, thus more profound.

28. I had that kind of quiet last night

I unexpectedly found myself alone at home. The youngest was at his mother's place. The middle two were overnight at friends, and the oldest was out until 11:00 with her boyfriend. So for about six blissful hours it was quiet. Not having any plans, I just stayed home and savored the silence. It lasted until around 1:00 this afternoon as the younger three made their way home.

The older I get the more I appreciate the quiet. There may come a time when the silence becomes too much, but for the time being I'll take it when I can get it.
