This has got to be the ULTIMATE Home Depot fuckup!
The backstory: On March 14, I put in my Two Weeks Notice at Home Depot. I told the HR guy, the scheduler, and the store manager. March 30 was my last day. After I did my shift, I said good-bye to the HR guy, the scheduler and the store manager.

This morning about 12:30, I was sitting on the $1200 Cat Bed reading the internets and drinking cocoa when I received a call from the store manager of the Home Depot.

"Where are you? You're scheduled to close today and I need you to teach the deck building class."

1. Did you get any pleasure out of saying: "I don't f*****g work for you guys anymore, Jack!"?

2. Same thing happened to me when I was working at Target and I left to go to college.
I turned in my two weeks notice. All the managers were saying how sorry they were to see me go. (A young person who actually works... that's pretty rare. :P )

Then the next day after I moved, my parents got a call asking why I didn't show up for work.

The really annoying thing is, I think because of that they had me in their computer as having quit without giving notice... evne though I did. Which means I can never get another job at another Target. Ever. They only rehire you if you gave your two weeks notice.

At least I'd assume that's why I never got a call back from the other Target I applied at a few years later. I was told that if you'd worked at a Target before and hadn't quit without giving notice or been fired, you were pretty much guaranteed to get hired if you applied at another one. I applied there a few times during the time I lived in that area and never got anywhere. Not that I want to work at a Target ever again... but the option would be nice.

4. They did...but I'm gonna be pissed if they don't pay my accrued vacation days
I also had a bunch of sick leave built up that I never used; if they decide I don't need that I am NOT going to be a happy camper.

I never trust those kinds of situations with only verbal communication. People tend not to remember or to pass things on to the folks who also need to know.
