The Very Best Definition of What Constitutes A Sport
If 75 year old, or older, people can play it, then it's not a sport.

Thank you.

2. If you change your shoes to play it...
then it's a sport.

3. What is running then?
It would seem to qualify as a sport, but 75 year olds can participate. Generally though you are right.

5. Track and field ruins all the cutesy arguments
Is there defense in the 100 meters?

And if golf is not a sport, then tell me about the javelin throw. That's nothing but a twisting heave within confined parameters. In other words, it's virtually identical to a golf long drive contest. Same exact concept, brute strength translating to distance of a propelled object. A handful of attempts, needing to stop within a defined boundary.

So I guess a long drive contest is a sport, while golf is not? LOL. No one with multiple functioning brain cells would assert a long drive contest is more varied and skillful than golf itself. In fact, failed golfers turn to the long drive contests.

6. Basically, if I like it then it's a sport. Otherwise, it's a hobby at best
It's like the old definition of religion:

1) If I like you and your faith, then it's a religion
2) If I like you, but not your faith, then it's a sect
3) If I don't like you or your faith, then it's a cult.

Defining 'sport' works pretty much the same way...

7. ha, ha, ha...
"If 75 year old, or older, people can play it, then it's not a sport."

how about this?

if a 75 year old or older, can play it and still win it, then it's one hell of a sport.

i am so sorry you apparently suck at sports. so sad for you. but don't diminish the accomplishments of those who can.

thank you.
