Stupid cholesterol test.

I've got a fasting cholesterol test (and a blood count and probably a few other tests) at 8 am tomorrow. Normally, I don't eat after 10 pm anyway...but of course since I'm not allowed to eat now, I really want something.

We know that this thirty-second blood draw will take approximately 45 minutes and make me late for work, even though I'm the first patient on the schedule.

And we know how this is going to end: A 4:45 Friday afternoon voice mail, "hi, this is a message for Stacie, this is her doctor's office calling about her recent appointment." And when I call back, "oh, the doctor's on vacation for the next two weeks, you'll need to talk to her directly," and then my imagination will run wild about what she may be calling about, and once I finally do talk to my doctor it'll be something like "your iron count is low, take a supplement."

And then my insurance won't pick up any of it because, well, I have crappy "student" insurance.

I like my doctor but I hate the assorted crap that comes with it...
