Which is more potent? Darvocet or Loratabs? |
|
I have to refill one of these and need to decide which one will be more effective?

but it makes sense.
for my pain, it seems like I am having to take 3/4 loretabs and then my foot pain really doesn't go away, I just get fuzzy in the face.

5. Depends on the dosage. The narcotic part, not the acetaminophen. |
|
That would be propoxyphene in Darvocet, or the hydrocodone in Lortab.

My goodness--I'm really messed up tonight. Lortab is far more potent than Darvocet, I thouhgt you wrote percocet.

I've never had darvocet, but I've heard it was strong. I've had vicodin, and frankly, it's never done that much for me. I just presumed it was on the low-end of the potency scale.

Codeine < Darvocet < Hydrocodone (Vicodin or Lortab) < Percocet (oxycodone) < Morphine < Dilaudid

13. Lortab....Be careful w/ both, of course, |
|
but be especially careful w/ Darvocet. Both L and D are mixed w/ acetaminophen, but the propoxyphene in Darvocet doesn't fare that much better than asprin for pain in many tests, and lots of folks wind up taking too because "it's not working," only to OD on the acetaminophen.
The hydrocodone in Lortab is a much more proven painkiller; even so, 4 sounds like a lot if it means you're getting, say, 2600 mgs of acetominophen @ 4x650. (Both L and D are usually sold w/ 350, 500, and 650 compounds, I think.) 4000 mg (4 g) is the max adult *daily* dose.

16. Too much acetaminophen is bad for the liver |
|
My doctor took me off of Darvocet for that reason, so now I am on Vicoden. Just recently, I tried acupuncture to try to get rid of the pain, but no luck...at least for only one visit. Well, I did have some relief the first day, but then the pain was back.
Be careful of this stuff.

14. Darvocet is much more noticably "potent". Loratabs are kid stuff, Darvo will knock you right down.nm |

17. Darvon doesn't do squat |
|
For severe pain. Back before it was a controlled substance, we nurses used to grab the samples for our menstrual cramps, and most of went back to good old aspirin or switched to snatching the Ibuprofen samples instead (before that went over the counter). Darvocet is just Darvon with a little Tylenol (acetaminophen) added to boost the effect. It's as worthless as Ultram. Save your money.
