Moment of Inertia
It's what makes the pancake hold still while you slip the spatula under it so fast it doesn't move, my father said standing by the stove.
All motion stopped when he died. With his last breath the earth lurched to a halt and hung still on its axis, the atoms in the air coming to rest within their molecules, and in that moment something slid beneath me so fast I couldn't move.

2. wow -- stunning -- i had the priest come and do last rights for my dad |
|
in my home -- where i had cared for him full time for several years.
that time at the last rights is something i will never, ever forget -- the suspension, the beauty, the deep letting go.
he died shortly after.

Oh, wow...
Now there's a poet...
Her words hang so delicately in the mind...
Just beautiful...
Thank you...
