I'm about to click on the button that will change my life (love story warning) |
|
I'm a simple man with simple pleasures and few desires. I don't ask for, or expect much. My life has been stable for over a decade. That may be about to change.
Sixteen years ago, I met a woman who I was destined to never forget. I knew from the instant I met her that I would always love her. We had a deep connection that I haven't experienced before or since. I would jump in front of a bullet for her without a second thought. I would just look at her; couldn't take my eyes off her - while listening to music, watching tv, or just watching her as she slept. I would listen to her voice, and no matter what she said, it sounded like an orchestra to me.
After about a year, I found I had to move to another state to take care of two ill family members. She had obligations - both work and personal - and stayed behind.
Truthfully, not a day went by in the past 15 years in which I did not remember her in some way. Her eyes, her scent, just her way of being her.
So. About 5 weeks ago, I discovered her address and phoned her. I fully expected her to react with a "that's nice. Bye now". But she didn't. We have discussed what has happened over the past 15 years, and she says she has always felt the same as I have. My heart beats faster and my world is brighter just for having heard her voice.
Anyway
I know this sounds a little crazy and childish, but I'm now 48 and still carry this love for her. She says I make her feel 16 again.
I am one computer click away from purchasing an airline ticket to see her in a couple of weeks. She asked if I would. My hands are shaking, my heart is pounding, as I see so many possibilities unfolding for the future.
Wish me luck, or call me nuts - that's okay. I just wanted to write this out. Thank you for reading, and I wish all of you the best.

Good luck ! You will have to update us when you return. Amazing that both of you are still available. What kept you from communicating all these years?

8. I didn't want to take her away |
|
from her home and family, and I couldn't go back for quite some time. By the time rolled around that I could have, I just figured that she had another life by then, and I would just be an awkward memory.

be sure to post after to let everyone know. If it doesn't work out though, I may be in a bit of an alcoholic daze for a few years!

Buy the ticket. We tend to regret only the things that might have been. There are no guarantees in life, but one certainty is that you've got to take the shot to make the basket.

Ok. Done responding to everyone. I feel like I'm kicking my own thread too much, but wanted to let all know that I appreciate your good wishes!

12. Awww! I am in a very very similar situation and it's the best |
|
thing I could ever have done, to reconnect with the guy who took my breath away 12 years ago (thankfully, I am the girl who took his breath away too). We are now happy, finally at peace with who we are as adults and living together with much laughter, love and passion. The coincidences in our lives are at times unbelievable (considering that we were born in separate continents) and we make each other happy and complete.
Best of luck to you... You are in my thoughts.

and I'm living it! I can't believe this is really happening. I can't really fully describe how I feel. Words are not adequate.
