3. You should rethink this particular non-ignore choice.
It's so much better without the above Ignored around.

5. I'm sorry, but GD:P has become a compete joke.
I don't even bother to post in that cesspool. The only ones in there are NOT going to be convinced by the other candidates, and it just isn't worth my time or my bandwidth to try and post over there.

24. It's been a long, long 8 years.....
When this started, I was 47, and I got to tell you, the difference at 55 is astounding. I just don't have the stamina to dance with the dragon anymore.

25. No...
Mostly, with a few exceptions it's the "I don't have the stamina to listen to rude, noisy illogical drivel" campaign.

Some are just painful to read because I've read their stuff for so long, and it's tool hard to see where they are right now.

I used to cut out time in the evening to read here and compose something...now I'm thinking up new house projects: a more profitable pastime.

13. I've only got two people on ignore now
One for being an all-around jerk, and one for repeated slurs against my religious beliefs. It's really hard to tick me off, but some have managed.

I figure many of the people in GD-P are temporarily insane, and are due the compassion one should extend to mentally unbalanced. As long as they don't follow me home making death threats, I'll leave them to their folly. But - like you - I so want this to be over. The poisonous atmosphere is wearying, and I'd welcome a return to more civilized discourse.

Not too polite, mind you. After all, we are Democrats, and most of us are understandably disgruntled.

17. Have you ever noticed
sometimes, though, that some of the insanity of GD-P oozes over to some of the other forums on occasion? I look at something and kinda say to myself, should I report this and have them move it to GD-P? Then I figure the poor mods are working their asses off already with all of this shit, and I don't bother, and put the thread itself on ignore.

I always rethink my ignore list about once a month, and then I check out their profiles to see if they've gotten banned in the meantime, and will usually remove them from the list entirely at that point. I can always return them it if they're still being assholes. :)

20. I just put someone on ignore a few minutes ago.
first time I've felt the need to do that in at least 6 months. Like some other people commenting on your OP, I am becoming more and more disappointed in the level of discourse, with greater and greater doubts as to whether DU is a healthy place for me to participate in.

21. Try not to know people forever
and it may not happen again :P

The only person (so far) that I'd like to put on ignore is the redneck piping designer at work. Ya know, one of those 19%-ers. He'd be a 0.1%-er if UU's numbers ever got that low

22. I have always thought of the ignore feature as
being the same as sticking my fingers in my ears and yelling 'la la la la la' while they were speaking.

So far, I havent used it. Is it satisfying, or arent you dying to know when they do speak, even though you don't particularly want to know what they have to say?

But I really dont get into debates. If someone wants to argue with me, they would really, really have to try hard.

27. I know what you mean.
I put three on ignore this week, and while I feel like crap about it, the things they said to me were inexcusable.

Basically, I did it for my sanity.

Once the nominee is selected, I'll reconsider.

29. What bothers me the most is that one of them is someone I've
always had a good online relationship with.

But when this person made a really ugly remark to me, I finally had it. I'd given this person a pass for a long time, but when that happened, I said, to hell with it.

Makes me sad, actually.

31. The primaries are like the Vulcan rite of "Ponn farr"
In Star Trek, Vulcan males go into heat every seven years, going into a blood fever, becoming violent, and finally dying if they do not mate with someone with whom they are empathically bonded.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pon_farr

Except that it's every four years, DUers instead of Vulcans, and instead of mating they select a candidate. When it's all over, someone needs to say, a la T'Pau, "Is dee happy, DU?"
