Does this forum allow stupid questions? Please allow me one?? |
|
I have some family members who live and breathe "infowars.com" and "rense.com".
Those two websites are a little out there for me...and I prefer not to get caught up in quite so much doom and gloom. There's already too much in our news.
Can anyone enlighten me as to whether these are reputable or worthy places to visit. Thanks.

1. I think rense.com is a right-wing wacko site. |
|
Never heard of infowars.com, but my guess is that it's crap too if they also like rense.

2. IIRC, both are RW crap sites. |
|
Reputable to idiots. Unworthy to all.

Not reliable.
My first experience with Rense came here at DU- someone had posted an interesting pic regarding a US Ammo Dump blowing up in Iraq.
I backtracked from the pic to the source, a thread at Rense, and I started a new DU thread to show five more pics.
It got locked. I PM'd the Mods to ask why, and they told me that Rense was one of the few sources loony enough to get threads locked automatically at DU.
SO, I went back to Rense and took a look at their main page... OH...MY...FREAKIN...GAWD!!!!!eleven!!!!
These aren't just people who talk about Bigfoot and aliens; they START from the belief that Bigfoot -IS- an alien, and they get crazier from there.
I PM'd the mods again and APOLOGIZED for linking to that site.

10. I still like to browse the Rense page |
|
but there are some important topics it seems they always miss, and I can not stand the pictures at the top of the page -- too twisted for me.
Infowars has come up with some blood-boiling topics I usually do not see anywhere else, such as kids getting TASERED by cops, or dragged into the judicial system for being misbehaving gradeschool kids.
There are a number of other sites that also have alternative information, somewhat more likely to be screened for truthfulness than Renses' stuff, and I see nothing wrong with looking to alternative sources online for information. It **is** true that there is a lot going on in the newsworld that is not covered by mainstream media.
Any certain topics they tell you about that you are wondering about?

in the checkout line. But you can't take them seriously!! Especially Rense. Alex Jones has some good stuff sometimes, but I've seldom found anything of value on Rense.

However, we all enjoy stupid questions here in the DU Lounge. If you ask a question stupid enough and can deal with the loud laughter around here, you can come back in a year or so and laugh at yourself with us. :P :D

14. There are no stupid questions here |

Ask us anything.
Let me give you a small clue - most computer people and hackers do not call it the world wide web, we call it the web of of a milllion lies.
Those sites seem to me like serious whack jobs.
Khash.
