So, I'm taking a playwriting class |
|
Yikes! I'v never done anything like this before. But I hope to learn a lot about a discipline that I don't know anything about, other than some time in the Green Room when I was in college.
:D
My second class is tomorrow night and we have to write a three page scene for 2 or maybe three characters.

let us know what you learn about writing by doing something in this genre. they're all different, as far as how you get where you want to be in a story. I have something I had promised to work on from other work, a while back... my greatest talent, now, is procrastination.

I'm definitely going to enjoy it. We're using freewriting as an invention technique. It's actually something I prefer. It's much better for me. I don't have time to get uptight about what I write. :P

that's the worst part... letting your internal editor get in your way. some days I think I should cut my internet access for a month and see what I actually accomplish...

4. I took a screenwriting course in college |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 08:20 PM by Orrex
It was among the best of the writing courses I've taken. In particular, it helped me to become more effectively concise in my fiction writing, rather than going on and on as I used to do before that class. Greatly sharpened my skill at writing dialog, as well.
Of course, my online postings are every bit as verbose as ever, but that's because I have so much overpowering wit and wisdom that I can't bear to keep it from the reader.
Enjoy the experience of this new course--it will benefit you in ways that you can't foresee!
Oh, wait--aren't I ignoring you?

I was really looking for a more social outlet for my writing and this I think will be a good activity for that. :-)

I once had an offer to join a play-READING group, and I declined for fear that I couldn't cut it.
You're a BRAVE one, Supe! Best of luck to ya! :toast:
