I'm having a giant chocolate chip cookie for dinner!
At Midnight! I came home from work at 2pm and crashed, and here I am finally awake at midnight. :wow:

I'm starving. But my stomach is feeling kind of iffy. So the cookie is the only thing I have on hand that seems safe to keep down.

What a confusing day!

My cats are all confused because I totally threw off their schedule too. I'm giving them some love and affection to make it up to them. They're awesome beasts.
:loveya:

So, please talk to me. Tell me what has happened today. What have I missed? And, how are you doing?

1. A giant chocolate chip cookie for dinner?
Eating healthy, are we? ;)

It's pretty much business as usual around here -- Obama people and Clinton people arguing, goofing off in the lounge. We've been talking about everything from the Pope's visit to a cougar loose in Chicago and killed by the Chicago PD.

4. It's too late to order real food
and there's not much else here right now. :P

I should look up some info about the Pope's visit. Guaranteed that he'll inflict himself upon NYC, and it'll totally screw up my commute for a few days.

It's nice to know that I haven't missed anything momentous. I should go hang out in Late Breaking News for a little while anyway. :)

5. I hope someone
got some beautiful pictures of that cougar.

Did I hear correctly that they killed it instead of just capturing it. :(

I hope you're doing well, and ZombieNixon too!

7. Unfortunately
the only pic I saw of it was after it had been killed. It was really sad. :( And yes, we're both well! Hope you're alright; stomach gets better.

So... I guess you know how I'm doing!

Hope you can get some rest, again, before you have to go to work! :hi:

6. Hi KC2!

I probably have a backlog of posts to respond to. But I'm not really very coherent tonight. I'm sorry. :(

I have this weird fog swirling around inside my head from the combination of messed up sleep, meds, and whatever it is that's making me ill. :(

I hope you're doing well!

It's the starchy cookie that I'm mostly craving though. It will hopefully calm my stomach a bit. :)

13. I totally do.
I used to be a damned good cook. I love cooking, and I love good food.

But with the hand-problems I don't trust myself with a knife anymore, or lifting anything heavy. So no cooking for me. :(

11. That sounds pretty damn good right now...
Maybe I need to go to the store for a giant chocolate chip cookie...

I had a grilled pork chop with grilled asparagus/other veggies with lemon and butter on them. It was good.

I also played hooky from work today because it was so nice outside today.

I am glad you are having a good evening Thom, here is to many more.

16. It's not yet what I would call a good evening
but it's getting there. :)

My head is clearing up. It's good to feel coherent again.

Of course, there are no guarantees how coherent I'll be at work tomorrow if I'm up all night. :P

:toast: Please hoist one for me. I could use a vicarious beer tonight.

15. I'm not much into cookies or sweets, but I'm awake too and will talk.
What's going on, and what's happening lately? Not much, and I don't have any complaints. I have lost about 50 pounds in the last 6 months, but that is a good thing. I plateaued for about a month and have since lost another 10 pounds. The thought of food just nauseates me right now.

But, I think your disability is much worse than mine, and I have the utmost respect for how you cope with daily pain. I may be on the sidelines and not say much, but I do notice you.

19. Hi Lil Missy!

Congratulations on the weight loss! :)

My weight is slowly creeping upward as I lose mobility. There doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. I just can't get enough safe excercise to make a difference.

I'm fortunate that I don't have a serious sweet tooth. I have a large box of these giant cookies and I'm only very slowly getting throug them.

But, I need to find a way to get the time and access to use a pool every day. That would definitely be a big help. I think that needs to become a project of mine. :)

I hope you are well.

18. Hi Thom.
I have also had a weird day. We just got back from the Urgent Care with our daughter. Seems she fractured the end of her tibia. We have a referral to the orthopedic surgeon, since all they could do at the UC center was give her a splint. She is not supposed to bear any weight on it and does not have crutches, so guess what I will be doing for the next few days?

Give your beasts some lovin from me!

20. Please be careful carrying her around.

I really hope you don't hurt your back. I'll be thinking good thoughts for both of you.

Can you get some adjustable forearm crutches in her size? I know they're pretty easy to get around here. I just don't know if that's true near you. Forearm crutches will be SO much easier for her to quickly learn to use well.

I'm definitely giving the beasts lots of lovin. They're alternating who gets to sit in my lap and get skritches. :)

21. We will be calling the orthopedic surgeon in the morning
From there we will figure it all out, as far as the durable medical goods needed, etc. Can you use the forearm crutches if you are not allowed to bear weight on the limb at all?

K is disappointed because she can no longer feed our beasts, for the meantime.

23. Yes, you can easily use them without putting weight on one leg.
:)

You can use them the same way you would use the underarm-crushers, but without the pinching and numbness. :P

22. Oh Lord! I don't miss the days of ER visits with my son!
One time he fell off the couch with a pen or pencil in his mouth, and ripped the roof of his mouth and punctured his throat.

Gawd, blood everywhere! And fortunately, I had family company over at the time. We were ALL scared to death that the injury would obstruct his being able to breathe.

I was 20 degrees below zero at the time. I just grabbed a big blanket to wrap him in, and my brother rushed us out the door to the nearest hospital. None of us were even wearing shoes!

And boy, did I have some 'splainin to do to Child Protective Services!

As it turned out, the freezing cold helped the bleeding to stop. But Jeezus, it 'bout gave me a heart attack!

28. Some kids are just more prone to accidents, cause they or more daring or adventurous, or something.
My son also played some version of Bonsai one day, and ran from one end of the house to the other. He tripped and landed face first against the corner of the dishwasher, and split his eyebrow open.

My family member, with the help of a neighbor, got him into the hospital for stitches. And yet another call to me from CPS at work. I don't mind them being conscientious, but Jeebus, I wasn't even there when it happened!

Then there was the time he had an ear ache, and took it upon himself to get a Q-Tip and puncture his ear drum. Blood everywhere! And again, I was compelled to take him to ER immediately. And MORE questions from CPS!

Gawd, it's no wonder I developed HBP after he was born.

29. Hello
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 01:11 AM by bixente
I'm rather the opposite of you. This past week or so I've been in bed by night and awake in the morning. This, for me, is extremely odd - for years my tendency was to be awake at any time, asleep at any time. All over the shop. But I've been taking greater care with my sleep as I had an epileptic seizure, sleep deprivation being the primary suspect. That often happens to me, a good habit coming from bad. Alas.

30. I wish I could get my sleep schedule aligned
to the corporate approved hours of sleep. x(

If my natural patterns were allowed to have their way I'd be wake until 2pm every night, and then I'd sleep until around 10am every morning.

These days, I usually only sleep with the aid of meds though. So my sleep schedule is tied to when I take my meds, and when exhaustion forces me to take naps. :(

I hope you don't have any more seizures.

And as sick as I feel today, I think I am probably on an unintentional diet for a few days. :P

The cookie was really good. Given that it's all I've eaten in the last 20 hours I'm glad it's good.
