3. Oh, please stop smoking... |

it is so unhealthy to do so, and very unattractive. I guarantee you will feel better if you do.
Kudos on going to the gym though, it is a good thing to do.

4. I plan on it, my friend...But, with my current |

situation, it's not really a top top priority....i.e. I'm *just* on this side of sane, if you know what I mean.

8. that reminds me of a funny story |
|
The first time my husband (who is a smoker) went to the gym with me, he actually paused his treadmill to take a smoke break. Who does that?? I swear I burned more calories laughing at him than I did running on the treadmill. 10 years later and I still laugh thinking about it. :D

I'm sorry to be selfish AGAIN, but the gym was good for me at the Alfred. Especially it was enjoyable on the exercise bike - I could easily manage 15 minutes and at a fair pace! Because I was only moving my legs. Of course, lungs, the heart... I'm not going to be involved in the Tour de France, still my upper body is by far the bigger problem. Also I was engaged in very basic exercises designed to maintain my body for the time post-transplant where I'll be weak for some weeks - this period of inactivity, without these muscle-strengthening exercises... I would struggle a lot, so it's important.
They consist of:
Holding a 0.5kg weight while pointing your elbow until its reaching upwards to the ceiling. Repeat seven times on both arms.
Slowly raise the left or right leg until its pointing straight. Hold for a few seconds, then lower. Repeat five times on each leg. This is the most difficult, still not a big deal. They don't want me to exert the heart too much.
Squats, a few.
Place the 0.5kg weight on each foot then slowly incline. The easiest.
*
I hope your experience is fruitful enough.

I'm optimistic. Thank you for sharing your experiences. :)
I'm going to try it, I've wanted to go, but I needed the proverbial kick in the ass. My friend is providing that, and I am grateful to him for that. :)
And to my anonymous DU lurking friend, HA! :D

10. That happens so often to me |

Not just as far as exercise, but a multitude of activities. For centuries I speak to myself in my mind, but with no results. Then one day I'm tapped on the shoulder and the wall which stood to the outer reaches of the atmosphere is easily climbed within minutes.

You know, sometimes I'm told that what I give in response isn't all that necessary, but I feel it is. If I didn't write this, a thought would nag away at me along these lines, "what if she expects a reply?" My disorder, it's not convenient, although I find I cope with it better, due to experience. I know what measures to take to guard against my insecurity. Now to cure it for good.
I say "cheers". It's true that people regard me as friendly, but I doubt whether I should be so greatly credited, as I wonder if I do everything for me and not for others. Is it an egoistic or altruistic gesture?
