Update on my traffic ticket: |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 10:07 AM by KC2
If any of you have been following my little saga about the traffic ticket, that I forgot to follow up on, here's an update:
I never did get a warrant for my arrest- Thank God!
In fact, when I ran to the court house on Monday morning, the clerk said my ticket wasn't even in the system yet! I asked the clerk why the back of the citation says a warrant will be issued, then, for failure to contact the courts within 10 days. All she said was to check back in a few more days & the DFW airport police sometimes take longer to turn in tickets. THAT was a relief!
So I called this morning. At first the clerk couldn't find my ticket in the system. Then she checked another system and came back with awesome, but strange, news! My ticket has been "voided"!!! :D I asked what that meant, exactly, and she explained it had been dismissed. So, naturally, I had to ask why. I guess the officer, or someone down the line, just "canceled" the ticket! Isn't that weird? Weird or not I am so happy right now!!! One less stressful thing to deal with!! Oh, and I've been reminded once again how wasteful worrying can be. :eyes:
Celebrate with me!!

my daughters "voided" ticket ended up with her spending a night in jail. Poor little girl cried her eyes out all night. Nobody cared about hearing her story.

I already wrote down the clerk's name and time I called. Also, I asked for proof of the voiding to be mailed to me. Believe me - not that I don't trust the DFW airport police ;-) - I will keep the proof close at all times!! :hi:

11. something similar happened to me a while ago |
|
I got pulled over for running a red light (guilty, I admit it). And got a ticket for not having insurance at the same time, because I had the old insurance card on me. I went to the court date to show I really had insurance at the time. The officer had failed to file the tickets, so the court was unprepared and dismissed them both.

A friend of mine told me the courts might just be overloaded right now. Whatever the reason, I feel like a weight has been lifted!

It was actually a woman police officer who wrote the ticket. She accused me of failing to stop at a stop sign. And, I told her I was going to fight it because I DID stop... and I did.
Oh, and welcome to DU! :hi:

20. Leaving work, after stopping at the turnout... |
|
at DFW airport - like I do every single day I work - a DFW police officer stopped me & claimed I didn't stop at the stop sign. The funny thing is, I remember thinking "Should I go...do I have time to go?" after stopping. So I *know* I stopped. The officer and I went back and forth.... "You didn't stop back there." "Yes I did." "NO, you didn't." It ended with me telling her I was going to fight it. But not before she made me wait almost 1/2 an hour (I timed it, and it was 25 minutes) and then....THEN....she got really bitchy with me, by asking, "Ma'am, what is your weight?" The funny thing is, my weight is on my driver's license. She knew I was was seething mad by then (in the real sense of the word) and snapped back "I know you are upset, but we need it for the form." grr.... I am getting angry again just thinking about it... and I don't want to do that.
The good thing is, I can hopefully put it behind me now. And I will be stopping at any stop sign at the airport for a whole three seconds, just to be certain it doesn't happen again!!

Oh, that is good news!
I am very relieved for you!
Yup...only worry about things you have control over...
I finally learned how to do that (well, mostly) and it has taken a lot of strain out!

I really wish I could learn that. I'll think I've mastered it... for a couple of days at a time, anyway, before I lose control over anxiety again. Some day... I hope.
