How many others of you out there MAILED your taxes on 4/15?

We're in Michigan, and thanks to many years of State Republican Rule, the day of the CONTRACT PROFESSIONAL is here and spreading its slime over us all.

SO.

Deb is a Med Nurse at a local outfit catering to the MEDICAID Mental Health trade: "Close the Psych Hospitals, Kick the patients out into the street, and drug 'em silly." So she has to play the "Well, you're CONTRACT but not an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, so blah blah blah you don't get to deduct ANYTHING and get to pay all of your SS Tax, cause we won't."

After all the weeping and wailing, we're out another $4,340.00. OUCH. We figured this out in February, but saw no profit in paying early.

So the checks got written on MONDAY NIGHT, the forms got printed, signed and posted on TUESDAY. Not letting those fuckers have OUR money one second earlier than we legally have to hand it over.

1. I'm a contractor...

and mailed mine on Monday 4/14. I was too lazy and cash poor to figure my estimated taxes.

I'm with on the keeping the money until the last minute.

3. Postmarked April 15th.

Had it stamped at the PO personally.

4. We just use Turbo Tax.

Started over the weekend and had most of it done by Sunday. However we were hunting through paper work to find obscure dates Mon evening. We pay at the last minute, just like you; why let them earn money on our money, when we could be doing it?

5. I use Turbo Tax also.

And I always authorize my tax payment to be withdrawn from my checking account on the 15th, so the IRS doesn't get my money a day sooner.

7. I figured this year, since we paid so much, we owed them some heartache.

A nice big wad of paper to sort through.

Oh and you (the IRS, not you, RebelOne!) want quarterly ESTIMATED TAX PAYMENTS???

6. i actually mailed the checks on Saturday, i figured i missed the pick up but

the feds cashed my check yesterday, apparently they really need the money. I hate tax time so much.

14. I put mine

in the mail on 4-14--and this is the first time in many years that I didn't do an extention. Of course, it was the first time in many years that I owed money, too, as I had some self-employment earnings in '07. I'm just glad it's over with...I hope.
