You know what fucking rocks? Watching hockey in HD does. |
|
It's easy to see the puck, no weird halo effect or any crap like that needed. Seriesly, it's like watching live hockey, but the beer is cheaper and I don't have to pay for parking.

1. Drink enough beer and things will be blurry again. |
|
You'll end up always looking at where the puck was half a second ago. If you can see it through the beer goggles.

1) Watching hockey precludes rocking, in HD or not. 2) How hard is it to see a black puck on white ice, anyway? I don't even watch hockey but whenever my family or roommates have it on, it's never hard to follow the puck. D) Hockey is lame.

Myself, I plan to wait until analog broadcasts cease, then start a letter-writing campaign to the Weekly Nickel Shopper about how no one told me I needed a new TV.
Then, I'm going to start going to court and town council meetings in my spare time. God, I wish I was retired. :D

20. Soccer is for little kids and greasy foreign guys who shave their legs. |
|
It is not football.
It is not even a sport.
It's a conspiracy on the part of parents to make kids run around in circles for an hour so they'll sleep long enough for their parents to have uninterrupted sex.
God only knows why foreigners haven't figured this out- next thing you know they'll be getting drunk and turning cars over for the world kickball championships or because Henri stole Sven's Pokemon cards or some childish shit.

21. Funny. See, hockey is just like football. |
|
Just without the ice, the uber padding, the sissy icing calls and the dipshit unsportsmanlike conduct.
One footballer knocks another down, they pick the other up.
Oh, and footballers use their heads. Not so much in the NHL.

22. Hockey is self-policing. |
|
You get a bad call, or no call, or their guy is too rough with your guy? You don't go wailing for an official, you don't make a goddamn international incident out of it, one of your guys goes and roughs up one of their guys. And since that kinda sucks, and nobody likes getting their ass beat, it's a very clean sport for the most part.
Unlike soccer, which is full of skinny wimps and drama queens faking injuries trying to draw a call, which is okay when it's school age girls, but not so much when grown men are playing a sport for school age girls.

|
Some twit gets offended about god knows what, starts yelling shit you nobody understand, thinking that'll get the authorities to punish the evildoer who looked at them funny or something, and then you have to rewind your tivo to see if anybody even came within ten feet of them, or if they're just pitching a fit because their frilly underpants are on too tight, which is usually the case.

the Lounge and the average football match were more akin than the Lounge and a hockey match are just silly.
The "goons" for football have nothing to do with the sport, unlike hockey.
"Hey, I'm going out there to run around until I have the chance to take up fisticuffs with the guy that perchance, checked my right winger too hard." Then, I'll do what I can to ensure that ESPN has me and my "foe" pounding each other remarkedly well.
Hi, we're bloody idiots. :hi:
As for your question, yes, beer and peanut butter oatmeal cookies are a fine "dinner" so long as that type of dinner isn't a habit.
Freak.

You were supposed to tell me to walk over to Safeway and get some ice cream for the sake of my health.
But I've decided that I might be a bit too tipsy to be walking around by myself at night, so I'm going to go watch Mythbusters downstairs instead. Beer, junk food, and blowing shit up. Could anything be more American?

I got my 42" widescreen in March of last year, I got my TiVo HD in August and got two cable cards for it. If something is available in HD, I'll record that over the SD version, it's a no-brainer.

37. I don't get the HD thing |
|
Call me crazy, call me a luddite, but I'm just not all that wowed by HDTV.
Yes, the picture is much clearer and yes you can see the beads of sweat on the player's faces.
But in the end, it's still just TV. It's not real. It's not tangible.
When the prices of HDTVs come down to those of normal TVs, then I'll be happy to buy one. But I've got no burning desire to waste all that money right now for one, especially in today's economy.
And people who voluntarily forgo a trip to a sporting event just to sit in their living room watching an HDTV and then claim it's just as good--I'm sorry, but that's just plain lame in my book.

I don't get the hype about HDTV. The improvement in picture quality over my current TV doesn't justify the inflated price tag.
