The Wikipedia Game.

Sometimes I am easily amused, bored at work, or both.

I came up with a little game, and I wanted to see if it worked.

1. Pick an object in the same room as you (like something on your desk).

2. Go to wikipedia.

3. Pick any wikipedia entry on the first page, and click the link to it.

4. See how many links within each entry you have to follow to find an entry for the object you selected.

5. Post your results.

Here's the example I just tried:

1. My object: a cactus.
2. Wikipedia front page entry: 2008 Masters Tournament.
3. The path: 2008 Masters tournament/Fred Couples/University of Houston/Houston, Texas/Texas/Rio Grande/Desert/Cactus

this could either be an exercise in tedium, or a fun little game. We'll see.
