The Nashville Cat has an eye and ear infection.
It started out as something in her ear- some kind of small scratch wound or perhaps an insect bite. I noticed a buildup of crud inside her ear, which had become sensitive to touch. I cleaned the crud out and the sensitivity seemed to go away for a couple days.

Then it came back. And now a day later I just noticed her eye is swollen and has seepage in it too, and the inner eyelid has turned bright pink.

Looks like a trip to the vet is in order for the poor kitten.

She doesn't seem to be in pain, but I know animals can hide pain very well. At least she still purrs, and there don't seem to be any other symptoms of sickness (as of yet). This looks like it can and probably will spread. I hope it doesn't get too bad before I can have her examined.

1. Purring can actually be a sign of distress...

2. I hope she feels better
My kitty had an injured/infected eye a couple weeks ago. He was pathetic, but healed quickly with ointment after a visit to his doc.

3. UPDATE
We went to the fur doctor this afternoon and he decided it wasn't serious- just a bit of conjunctivitis or something similar. He gave me some eye drops to give her and sent us home. He didn't think there was anything wrong with her ear except a little wax buildup. He checked her for earmites and that was negative.

I'd already noticed she seemed to be doing a bit better today, and she doesn't seem to be in any distress. In fact she's sitting next to me right now grooming herself.

I think she even enjoyed the car ride!

She's gonna be okay. :headbang:

7. FAN tastic
Aside from the vet payment I mean. It's worth it to find out good news, I mean t find out it's no ear infection. My Tonka had one once and I didn't know it until he all of a sudden couldn't walk, I thought he was dying :scared: so ear infections scare me now.

I'm glad she's gonna be over this!

8. The price was worth it- a mere forty five bucks.
And that included the price of the drops.

11. My dear Prisoner_Number_Six!
Oh, GOOD!

I am so happy to hear this!

You see, she didn't have a chance to get very sick, because you were keeping an eye on her!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

5. It sounds like she really needs oral anitibiotics
and some antibiotic ointment. A trip to the vet is in order. You don't want to wait since it is in her eye now.

9. Poor baby
I hate it when animals are sick or injured. They can't tell us directly what is wrong. I hope your kitty feels better, don't worry.
