To love the person...
but not their disease/problem, etc.

is what I'm struggling with...

I love someone dearly, but at times when they are very intoxicated I feel I am treated differently, and end up feeling hurt and angry.

I have been working on loving them, and not their disease. However, I am not sure that I am able to not feel the anger from their disease that is aimed elsewhere, but I get the blow by, or the actual brunt of the explosion.

Tonight, I am feeling sad.

This is where I am in terms of dealing with a very dear friend that I love.

I want them in my life, I want them to be with me. I don't want their disease there because it will win everytime.

So, it may be that it is not possible to be with them as long as the addiction is active.

thanks

1. My dear Southpawkicker...
I hear you, sweetie...

You have said the truth here...

How sad it is, too...

For both of you...
