Rockies defeat Padres 2-1... In 22 innings!!!
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280417125

That's how long last night's game at PetCo Park took. The game was scoreless until the top of the 14th, and, of course, both teams scored a run in the inning to extend the game another 8 innings. The Rockies finally won in the top of the 22nd with an unearned run. It was the longest game in the Majors since August of 1993, and the longest game ever in Rockies history.

I went to bed during the bottom of the 11th because it was 11:00pm and the game was still scoreless. Local time, the game ended at about 2:20am. Yikes.

I'm just glad we managed to win this one! :woohoo:

1. Win the battle, lose the war
Your pitching staff is screwn for the year. It will all come crashing down when the Twins come to town....

:smoke: :hi:

13. Baseball (all sports really) seem to keep stats for everything.
However, I've always wondered if there are any stats the say at what point losing is better then winning a longer game.

3. I wish I cared about the Wild. I can't root for a team whose name
doesn't end with an "s." This series is repugnant to me. Old-time hockey.... Eddie Shore.

5. I heard only the last 10 innings
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x7665328

A little after 10 p.m. I checked the mlb.com scoreboard and saw that they were scoreless in the 12th, so I got it on XM, even though that meant listening to the insufferable Ted Leitner.

That there was a ball game. :D

9. That it was! Tonight's game in Houston is shaping up to be a real barnburner...
It's 6-4 Colorado in the top of the 2nd inning.

Top of the 2nd. Yowza.

11. When I heard the Rox got six in the first
I burst out laughing.

One of the Atlanta announcers said they got to their hotel at 8:30 this morning. That means they got six hours' sleep, tops.

They oughta get worn out more often. :)

12. I'll say!
It's 9-4 now, bottom of the 4th. Morales isn't looking so hot - again - but the offense is smoking hot! Troy Tulowitzki has 2 doubles and 3 RBIs already, after knocking in the game-winning run with a double last night.

6. Jeez...
"Who's left for pitching?"

"Um... just Johnson."

"Johnson? We don't have a 'Johnson' on this team!"

"Al Johnson. The batboy."

<pause>

"Hell, why not? Johnson! You're on the mound!"

:-)
