2. We never called them nudist beaches
We just called it skinny dipping. And yes - there are lots of places where people skinny dip where I come from. I was about 10 the first time I went to one and after the initial surprise, it was no big deal.

7. I went skinny dipping in a gorge in Vermont...
The owner of the land used to let people swim there. One swimming hole was for families (swimsuits), and one was for nude bathing. Never had a problem.

My pond is in MA. It's not even on the map and even people here don't know about it. ;)

11. is this skinny-dipping too?
in that case, yes, I've gone skinny-dipping numerous times at my favorite lake... but only when no one else is around. it's not a public lake, tho. I thought the OP meant a public beach.

skinny-dipping is a must for everyone at more than one point in life. nothing like it.

16. I think that's the one my boyfriend has been to (a long time ago).
Of course, he also used to sunbathe nude on the roof of the apt. building in which he lived, and this was in a Somerville (a densely populated city). lol

5. Yes! Zandvoort.
Zandvoort is one of the major beach resorts of the Netherlands; it has a long sandy beach, bordered by coastal dunes. It is also the site of the country's most important automobile racing circuit, Circuit Park Zandvoort.

There is a nudist beach located about 2 km to the south, with 6 cafés or restaurants; it extends several kilometers further south.

We took the train from Amsterdam.
We were told "When you hit the beach, take a left. Keep walking."
We did.

There were a couple of young women about 50 yards ahead of us.
We reached a kind of no man's land between the clothed and the unclothed. About 100 yards of deserted beach.
When they reached the 'nude line', the two young women proceeded to strip and put their clothes in their beach bags.
Quite a sight for an Amurican.
:-)

beaches in Europe are top optional... not that I did... but my sister-in-law used to go with her kids and go topless. everytime I went to a beach in Belgium or The Netherlands there were topless females.

I was not brave enough to take off the bottom. :scared:

13. In Greece and Australia.
Topless in Europe is no big deal. In Basel, people would enter the Rhein at a park then drift down through the city with the current. You'd always see topless women walking up the street back to the park topless.

14. Yes
Gunnison Beach on the Jersey Shore. We didn't realize it was a nude beach until we got there -- it's one of a series of beaches along the Sandy Hook area of the Shore, and you have to walk quite a ways to get to it. We left quickly. Most of the people didn't look to me like the type that someone would want to see nude.

15. Yep. There used to be one somewhere on English Bay...
as a kid I'd occasionally end up there by mistake when exploring the waterfront. Also, once in Greece, on the honeymoon from hell, I went to a nude beach (and remained clothed).

19. Yes.
One in Central California, which was rather cold and uncomfortable, and many topless beaches in Greece, which were initially very nice, but eventually very hot, sandy and uncomfortable.

Two things you should know about nude beaches: 1) "Nude beach" doesn't mean just the good-looking people. It includes old German grannies, too, and 2) All men look ridiculous naked, and all but olympic swimmers look ridiculous in a speedo. I think even the women would agree that the beach scenery is greatly improved when the men keep their skivvies on.

And nudist camp grounds. And nudist parks.

I used to spend quite a bit of time naked. :)

22. I can't believe no one's requested photos yet
Rumor has it that nudity is tolerated on this stretch of Outer Bank beach. Obviously there weren't people around when this photo was taken to confirm that.

I've been in lots of socially nude situations but never at a beach, unless you count the banks of a river as a beach.

And not for long- the girls stood out like a sore thumb next to the A cup French women who were the only other ones topless. :scared:

24. It all started at Woodstock in 1969 ... hundreds of nude swimmers
and we only skinny-dipped after that for years at a reservoir.

I also belonged to a clothing-optional resort in Topanga Canyon in later years. Also, a nude beach in Ventura.

It really is no big deal after ten minutes or so. It seems more normal, not less.
