1. I owned two of them, my family owned the third
I had a Volare and a Vega, and my family owned a Chevette.

I don't remember any of them being bad cars. We did have endless problems with a Chevy Nova in the first year of pollution controls. I also had a 65 Mustang I called the Rustang because of all the body rot. I paid $125 for it. I expected it to fall apart, but it took a long time doing it.

then there was my 1941 Nash.

3. I owned a LeCar
There was nothing wrong with it. It could go up 40% grades with 4 people in it, you just had to use the right gear.

7. LOL.. sadly, I can't claim credit for it..
A friend owns a garage that does custom work on VWs and other air-cooled cars.. this is one of his customers' projects.. actually, very impressive in person. I think he's planning on racing it in NHRA races.

8. I had a Pinto
"I took this car to a high-crime shopping mall and left it unlocked with the keys in the ignition. I came back several days later and, much to my disgust, it was still there."

10. I think the top two are dead on
Our family owned a Chevy Vega and it was the worst car we ever had. Despite not being a very popular car, everyone I knew who owned a AMC Gremlin never had any trouble with them. Good and reliable. I knew one couple who bought one used for $400 with 120,000 miles on it, drove it for eight years and put another 100,000 miles on it until it got in a wreck. They were very disappointed to lose that car.

11. Lol! A friend of mine had a Yugo. The floor fell out on the
passenger's side when I was riding in it. Guess it wasn't the first time!

We also had one of those VW buses as a school bus in the early 1970s at my private, hippie run elementary school. It had flower power icons painted all over the exterior, and a large peace symbol on the front. It was ALWAYS breaking down, and if there weren't so many kids packed into it we would have frozen solid in it during the Ohio winters. Heck, I was only six when I first rode in the thing, and even then I knew that it wasn't safe!

12. The only thing worse than a Chevy Chevette was a Diesel Chevy Chevette.
I once spent the better part of a weekend trying to get one started in the winter in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania.

13. One of the good lines about the Yugo on Car Talk.......
Someone had called in and was asking whether to buy a several year old Toyota or a brand new Yugo for the same price. This triggered the memorable line from Click and Clack, "New junk is still junk. Buy the Toyota"
