4. steamy water in a bowl (add lemon juice if you like the smell)
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 06:13 PM by Debi
Put a towel over your head and the bowl and take slow deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Dip the towel in the water and wring out.
Lie down and put the hot/lemony scented towel over your eyes.

On edit:

Arrgghh Lay/Lie I never get it write....err right...

8. Look for a website on acupressure points
There is a point in the fleshy space between thumb and first finger that works for many types of headaches, facial pain, tooth pain for a lot of people.

Also, if you are holding tension in your neck and it causes headaches: put your forearm at the small of your back, lower that shoulder slowly and move it back a bit. SLOWLY lean your head toward opposite shoulder. Hold the stretch a bit (only as long as comfy first few times) Then, do other arm behind back and reverse the whole stretch.

Most helpful to relieve the tension we tend to hold in neck and shoulders.

Have used the pressure point in hands for years. Tension headaches, cluster headaches, migraines; it helps me with all of them.

Also, next time you are out near a store with scented oils, try a whiff of lavender or jasmine. Health food stores sometimes have dried lavender. I make small 'eye pillows' for friends who get a lot of headaches. Most say it helps. It is a scent which relaxes

Get better,

hm, who can't take the 'good stuff' pills for pain ;)

16. My brother the occupational medicine guy says that most tension headaches
are the result of muscle contractions in the neck and shoulders. Have someone give you a neck and shoulder massage, seeking out knots of tension with their thumbs and kneading them until they disappear.

22. I've got some excedrine migraine
and I'm not going out

maybe I'll try that

taken earlier

3 ibuprofen 200
2 tyelenol
1 flexeril

and a partridge in a pear tree

but that was about 3 this afternoon

so it is time

only the excedrin will wake me up

but the flexeril will make me sleepy

so I'll be somewhere in between

:P
