Half of UK men would swap sex for 50 inch TV

LONDON (Reuters) - Nearly half of British men surveyed would give up sex for six months in return for a 50-inch plasma TV, a survey -- perhaps unsurprisingly carried out for a firm selling televisions -- said on Friday.

Electrical retailer Comet surveyed 2,000 Britons, asking them what they would give up for a large television, one of the latest consumer "must-haves".

The firm found 47 percent of men would give up sex for half a year, compared to just over a third of women.

"It seems that size really does matter more for men than women," the firm said.

But related to the size, having been to London recently, I didn't see a single living room that a TV that size would fit in. Their flats are TINY.

We're having metric forced on us - most people are getting used to it for shopping, but still use feet and inches if they're given the choice.

I can't buy meaningful sex for six months. I mean, theoretically I could pay for, but such a scenario simply doesn't survive a cost-benefit analysis. And besides, that's more of a business transaction.

More to the point, though: Where the Hell would I put a 50-inch TV? Would seeing the garbage on TV in larger dimensions improve my life?

If you've ever seen men in Best Buy or any electronic store, you KNOW that techie toys and big screens are better than sex to them.

I must have some Dude DNA too, because I'd rather have a houseful of cool electronics than expensive jewelry or a closet loaded with shoes. That chick stuff doesn't do anything except decorate you, whereas the guys have it right: electronics and hi-tech toys are tools for creativity and coolness.

Listen, if more women felt like I do, the men would probably get the sex just for bringing the 50 inch TV home to them!
