Anyone else notice some weird posts in GD re FLDS? |
|
I'm gonna have to stop reading them (I started one of them a few days back and now I'm sorry). I think we're seeing some real strangeness surfacing and I don't know what to think about it.
Something's a little off...

So that being said, what does FLDS mean? In the medical profession it's a shorthand for fluids.

3. The Fundie Mormons in Texas. I hope I got the acronym right... |

Obviously, you haven't tuned into that deal yet, and perhaps you're better off. There are some raging debates on the raid by the police that started out seeming to be on Constitutional rights, now have gotten disturbing, IMHO. It's just revealing some thought patterns that have creeped me out...

4. Yeah, I've noticed too |

Really.
Using FLDS to score parents rights/ freedom of reilgion points is way bizarre, imo.

5. the whole event raises some really interesting legal and ethical questions |
|
I would hate to be the judge in that case. :(
I would also hate to be the kids and families in that case as well, so I guess I'm covered. ;)
What a big mess.

6. I had to give up when one poster suggested that the women and children are, in fact, chattel. |
|
That was more than enough for me. The legal issues notwithstanding, it's really chilling to see anyone defend child rape, sex slavery, etc.

7. It was revealing, to say the least. |

Some posts were positively "mental," and I do mean "out there."

If I didn't know better, I'd swear up and down the FLDS had "operatives" in place defending that horrible stuff. :tinfoilhat:

11. Yeah, that stuff makes me really scared here at DU. |
|
And I don't feel that way on any other subject. I mean, some people can get mad and go a little nuts on a subject, but these posters have exhibited thinking that I find, well, as I said, disturbing...
