John and Abigail Adams died!
And so did Thomas Jefferson!

Now I am sad the series is over. What a cast. And, how interesting that Adams and Jefferson passed on the same day.

5. If the events in question didn't occur almost 200 years ago..
I would have posted a spoiler alert.

I still cried, even though I knew the ending.

I hope a few emmys go out for that miniseries.

6. I will end up getting it on DVD.
And, Tom Wilkinson is in every movie. I think he is a hidden extra in uncredited films. From now on, I will have my own little "Where's Wilkinson" game.

12. I was quite interested in that quote by Adams at the end.
I don't remember it exactly, but it was to the effect of, I hope our posterity does something good with this freedom because it certainly cost a lot to get. I wonder if he would be proud of us? Sometimes yes, sometimes no, I suppose.

13. I had a thought on that as well
At this particular time in our history, and during the vietnam era, I'm not sure how proud he would be. That is sad to say.

15. maybe you could make it sort of like the '6 degrees of Kevin Bacon' game
Mr. ld and I finally got around to watching 'Michael Clayton' Friday night, and for some reason, I didn't realize that Tom Wilkinson was in it, and was brilliant! (as always, IMHO) Why he hasn't won an Oscar yet, is beyond me- :hi:

18. Javier Bardem..
Were it not for him, Wilkinson would have the Oscar. I was rooting for Wilkinson, but I couldn't deny Bardem's performance.

Great acting all around in Micheal Clayton. I was glad Tilda Swinton won.

Sounds like an interesting series.

Knew it was the fourth but not such a round number.

33. History teacher
I had a history teacher, I think in junior high school, who told us about the same death day story. He also quoted both as saying, "Thank god there's still John Adams (Thomas Jefferson)". I suspect that bit may have been dramatization.

39. actually, not much of a dramatization. Adams's last words were "Thomas Jefferson still lives", not
knowing that Jefferson had died a few hours before.

20. LOL I was just thinking earlier that with historical dramas
it takes real skill to make it suspenseful -- like ooooo I wonder what's going to happen next!!

21. It was rather suspenseful, wasn't it?
I was curious as to how the deaths would occur...

I knew they died on the same day...

It was beautifully done!

Made me cry, it did...Death is so damn final...

27. ***SPOILER****
ALL THE FOUNDING FATHERS HAVE DIED!!!!!!

It makes me wonder how long people can will themselves to live, or die, when both Adams and Jefferson die on the Fourth of July exactly 50 years after the Declaration of Independence.

Matthew Mcconaughey's sub captain ordered him to crawl under water and turn that valve. Maybe he'd find a pocket of air. John Bon Jovi getting blown off the ship was a real surprise, too.

38. John Adams: Not on any coin or bill! Why not?...
...They got guys who weren't even presidents on 'em (Hamilton, Franklin, Salmon P. Chase, Susan B. Anthony, Sacagawea, all those "Liberty" gals from the 19th century). Hell, Franklin was on the half-dollar AND the $100. Jefferson on the nickel AND the tenner. Lincoln on the penny AND the five-spot. U.S. Mint gotta show some love for John Adams.

Until they do, I simply refuse to spend any money.

I figure I can hold out for....oh, about 32 hours.
