I'm a Phillies addict and it's ruining my health.
Not that they're any different from any other team, but their ability to change my mood in a matter of seconds is kinda scary.

They handled the Cubs really well last week - and would've swept them if the umpire didn't make a REALLY bad call.

Their weakness this year has been with the Mets. Last year, at the end of the season, they whooped their asses and made it to the playoffs. Paybacks are a bitch.

I'm staying up too late watching the games, I'm screaming at the TV and freaking out the dogs as a result, and then to add further punishment, I go online and look at the NL East standings.

My only comfort is seeing that it could be much worse - at least they're not the Nats! :P

How are all you Lounge Lizards feeling about your team these days?

1. It could be worse. You could be a Pirates fan looking for your
first winning season in 16 years. Probably not going to happen this year.

2. Yeah, I got to watch both Cubs/Pirates series in the last couple
weeks. They didn't handle well.

Ya never know, though. The Phillies have never been known to have a good start to the season - in recent years, they pick up speed mid-summer.

I don't see enough of the Pirates to have any idea what their weaknesses are.

Oh well, maybe next year!

3. My team = BoSox.
I'm PSYCHED, especially since they're playing RIGHT NOW! Go Patriots' Day! Sweep da Rangerz!

:D

Seriously, the BoSox are doing tres well thus far. I'm quite satisfied. If only Buchholz can pull off a win--no more 7 runs in 3 2/3 innings, or whatever it was against the Skanks. :eyes:

7. I'll bet you're psyched! LOL
My girlfriend lived in Worcester for several years and the BoSox became her favorite team really quick.

She can be a little annoying at times, being that she's down here in Philly-land, but we understand the joy.

The Yankees, however.....we've had enough of them. :P

I just want to say how thankful I am for mlb.com and their pitch by pitch, play by play of each game online.

37. I third the appreciation of Gameday!
Especially when the Twins game is not carried on my Extra Innings package.

Gameday, XM radio and Extra Innings make it almost tolerable to be out of my team's market.

13. Not only did I lose my team, but they turned into the Nats.
I have been without a favorite team (or anything close to it) since the Expos moved, so you're right - it could be MUCH worse. I love the sport but have nobody to root for, and no team jumps out at me as anything close to a reasonable replacement.

:(

it's kinda early to make a call.

We're 7-11, but I'm not worried — though I hated gettin' swept by fucking Atlanta. x(

That's when I started following the Phils.

9-10 in April is their best start in years, and that's scary LOL

I hafta turn it off it I get too crazy, they'll call the cops on me.

I just turned the Flyers and within 20 seconds I was loud :D

2-0 WOOHOOOO!!

25. You're right, you're right.....
I need to relax. The Phils are notorious for their slow starts.

I'm sure having J-Roll sitting the games out isn't helping either. I told the boyfriend last night, that when Rollins is back, they should pull Howard out for a few games. He needs to clear his head - pretty obvious to me.

As for the Flyers, last I checked it was 2-2. Could be interesting.

:hi:

and have actually pitched really well of late.

I am honestly surprised by our starting rotation; our worst pitcher is our supposed ace!

Be very afraid.

Makes the ball act a little crazy some days. I'd hate to see your boys struggle with the altitude in their first-ever visit to the Mile High City.

Oh wait... No I wouldn't.

The Cubs are 13-6. Lee's hitting everything and Dempster's given up 14 hits in 24 innings.

They're where the Dodgers oughta be right now, with the people they put on the field. (It'd help a lot if Andruw Jones weren't hitting his hat size.)

And don't talk to me about history. Baseball's about the last game, not 1969.

But welcome to DU anyway. :hi:
