Ya know what I hate about this $3.55 a gallon gas
I hate it for the kids.
My teens have crap teen part time jobs and they can almost pay for the gas to get to their jobs.

Where is the fun carefree summers for these kids!
Riding around with your pals in the cars and the windows down.
And singing your best Bananarama at the top of your lungs.

Times are a changin.
It sucks.
No fun allowed.

2. And with the spread of suburbia in most places
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 07:41 PM by DarkTirade
you HAVE to drive far to get to a job. :(

And the few places that don't have the suburban sprawl going on are mostly places that are fairly rural and are widespread anyway. So it's six of one, a half dozen of the other.

9. I worked two blocks from my house. Never had a car, nor even access to one.
If I couldn't get there by foot or bike, I didn't go. And I lived in the suburbs, with no public transportation.

3. When I was in HS and college I'd drive 1000 miles a week...
It's one of the things me and my friends talk about missing the most, just driving for hours and hours never really going anywhere more than a few hours away.

7. Tell me about it...
when I first got my license gas was barely over a dollar a gallon. Gone are the days when you get that first taste of freedom away from your parents and just cruise around with some friends in the car. Maybe a bunch of teens and a car isn't the safest thing in the world but damn if it wasn't a great feeling to be 17 with your own wheels on a Friday night.

4. if gas costs too much, I guess they'll stay home, do drugs and fornicate
kidding

It would suck having to look at today as your "good old days".

5. I am really sad to see it all gone
We'd get a car full to go to a concert in a neighboring town or state
and we'd pick the vehicle by whoever had the newest tires.

The lazy days driving through the countryside are gone, too.

10. Time to pump up the bicycle tires...
One day they'll tell their kids what it was like when times were tough. They'll still have fun, because young minds are flexible.
We can still have fun too, even though $4 a gallon sucks. :hi:
