any Battlestar Galactica fans here?
I don't know too many people who watch even though it is critically acclaimed with lots of politically and psychological edges.

One thread they started last season was four long time characters deciding that they were Cylons because they were drawn together by a persistent song they heard.

However, it occurred to me that all four were on the planet under the Cylon occupation, so they may have been implanted like Baltar so they can bother him at will. A preview of next week showed a Six appearing to Tigh just as happens to Baltar.

Also, if they are part of the final five hidden Cylons, then Baltar would be too, since so far, their only Cylon-ness is hearing things.

That would mean there are more than five since Starbuck died and came back, something only Cylons can do. More likely, some or all of the four are not Cylons, and the Cylons are just messing with their heads.

1. There's plenty here
I don't think it's going to be Baltar. I hope not, anyway.

2. I'm not sure who the final cylon is, but I expect
it to be one of the main characters -

Adm. Adama
Laura Roslin
Starbuck
Baltar
Lee Adama

Since they've like to do things BIG in this series I expect them to go BIG with the final cylon as well. (the season 1 cliffhanger with Boomer shooting Adama, the end of the next season with the cylons marching into New Caprica, last season with Starbuck's miracle return, etc)

I'd be surprised if it was a minor character like Gaeta or Dualla or Cally.

4. Nope, none of the above
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 09:59 AM by JoDog
Before the season started, SciFi released a promotional poster based on "The Last Supper". Producer Ron Moore said publicaly that the picture is full of clues to the season, and he offered an additional, tantilizing one--that the final Cylon was NOT in the picture. The Adamas, Starbuck, Baltar and Roslin were all in the picture. So if we take Moore at this word, none of them is it. Also Katie Sackoff (Starbuck) and Moore have said publically that she has been assured that her character is not a Cylon, the only actor to get that promise.

Actually, Gaeta, Dualla and Cally head my list of suspects. Socratia Thrace (Starbuck's mom) is there too.

Edited to add link to the pic:

Click on the number 10 in the picture for Moore's statement that the last Cylon is missing from the photo.

21. Depends on how you want to split hairs
Yes, the person who came back looks like Starbuck and shares some of her memories. But are we sure that it is exactly the same person who flew into that nebula? Could be a clone with memories transfered with technology we haven't seen yet. Remember, the Cylons have one of her ovaries. Also we have no idea what the information download/upload capabilities of a hybrid could be.

22. don't that have to be within a reasonable distance from a resurrection ship?
They weren't near the Cylons when she died so I would think she'd have been too far from a resurrection ship.

33. The 'receiving' range for resurrection has never been established.
Leoben was afraid he would not resurrect in "Flesh and Bone", but it was revealed in a deleted scene much later that Leoben had in fact resurrected and told a Six about Roslin's broken promise about air-locking him. (in the galactica world 'airlock' has become a verb!)

But in last weeks episode, the Cylons who liberated the Centurions were duped into an ambush and they commented that they were being 'really' killed because of no resurrection ship close enough.

35. I like to use "airlock" as a verb sometimes as well.
I.E., "If I were a weaker man, and I had access to an interplanetary space ship, I'd airlock you without thinking twice."

I usually say it in jest... Sometimes, not so much...

So you can't have both her and Tyrol being Cylon.

3. Love the show. I'm still sticking with my theory. They'll finally figure out that they are actually
all cylons. Everything has been about the cycle and how the entire story has happened before. You're seeing the beginning cycle, where they are starting to have cylon/human babies and how some of the identified cylons aren't quite like the others, Boomer for example. The identified cylons have evolved from the base models like the centurions into "human" form. I think they'll all find earth and realize that they are all the same "family" so to speak and then the cycle will continue again.

18. I still say Dualla is a strong candidate
She has positioned herself close to power (dating the president's assistant, marrying the admiral's son), and her position in the CIC puts her in an ideal place to know everything that's going on with the human fleet. If I wanted to insert a spy in the humans' midst, I couldn't do a better job than Dualla.

17. Baltar is not a cylon
Ron Moore (executive producer and head writer) was quite specific about that. To Moore, Baltar represents humanity (selfishness, etc.), so it would make little sense to have him turn out to be a cylon.

19. That would make it all the more perfect, though
The most human character is actually a cylon.

And, as I said above, Moore is also the guy that told us Starbuck was gone for good when she died... only for her to come back a few episodes later.

25. *shrug* Believe what you will
Baltar has been among the elite leadership of the humans. He was VP for a long time, then president for the duration of the New Caprica debacle. Making any of the human leaders cylons is bad from a writing point of view because then the humans are in effect not in control of their own actions in what is presumably a human-cylon conflict. Tigh is as far up the chain of command as they dare go.

For this same reason, I think Adama and Roslyn will prove to be fully human.

24. I have a question..
The way I understand it..the cylons left earth for 40 years..during this time they developed the technology to make cylons look like people.

How could the final 5 have been on earth during this time ? ..how could they have 'been cylons all along' ? ..when the technology wasn't there yet ?

Damn that show makes me hot.

4/2/08: Ron Moore reiterated that no one in the Last Supper promotional photo is the Final Cylon. From Ron Moore Chicago Tribune Interview

4/6/08: According to Ron Moore, the reveal of the final Cylon "will be late in the season, it won't be in the first half." From dwscifi.com Interview

3/29/08: The cast has been told who the final Cylon is, although Katee Sackhoff seems skeptical that whoever they were told really is the final Cylon.

Why would Katee be skeptical if she was told it was her after being told from day 1 that she is not and would not be a Cylon? And fans speculated she was one from early on. I think they (including myself) would be very disappointed if it was Starbuck or Baltar.

My money is still on Anastasia (the name is Greek origin, and its meaning is "resurrection") Dual (la)

The recon ship is rather open. If Cally or any of the Secret Four can resurrect the 'usual' way to Resurrection ship #2, the bodies would have to be kept behind locked doors which seems unlikely given the transparent exterior where bodies can be seen or in the resurrection chambers (both individual and large resurrection areas have been shown).
Remember, none of the Seven aside from D'Anna have seen the faces of the Final Five. "That can't happen" Cavil says in the Temple of the Five.

39. Oh God I love the show
I suspect that either Zarek or Gaeta is the final Cylon. I think a major character like Adama or Roslin would be too predictable, but it also has to be someone who has had a strange agenda. Zarek definitely qualifies in that regard, and Gaeta - I dunno, there's just something about him.
