Damn Squirrel!
I put up a bird feeder in the tree in the yard. First time ever that I had one.

I put it up Sunday, filled it to the top. The birds have seemed to enjoy it...the tube has about 3-4 inches less feed then when I put it up.

But now today, this squirrel has eaten almost the rest of the feed in the tube. It's been out there the last hour or so munching away.

What can I do??? It's for the birds, dammit! All these birds are waiting around for their turn.

Any thoughts?

4. You have to hang them somewhere and somehow that the squirrels can't get to 'em
Which requires a lot of ingenuity because squirrels are determined little varmints. Google "squirrel proof feeder" - a lot of interesting stuff comes up. :hi:

9. yeah this, like the squirrel Baffler
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 10:47 AM by stuntcat
like this to stop them from going down or this if you want to stop them from climbing up

I used it before and it worked pretty good but my squirrels were determined little acrobats. If our feeders wee up front it wouldv'e worked but they're in a shady place with trees and a wall soit's a squirrel circus :headbang:

8. You need to hang it from a 3 ft. wire.
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 10:45 AM by Deep13
It has to be in a place away from branches or whatever to avoid a jumping, lateral attack. Grease the wire and put a baffle between the feeder and the wire. Pretty much the only way to keep tree rats out.

14. Put some nuts around the lawn for the squirrel. or try unsalted un-husked sunflower
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 05:11 PM by applegrove
seeds. Husking them will keep the squirrel busy.
