Best all natural Migraine cure?
It's a premenopausal one...Ginger tea helps a lot, but comes and goes with the nausea. I read something about Lavendar Oil. Check! I've got a little left, what do I do with it? Any one know? My puter is having issues, so I am being redirected and it is slow. Husband will fix the issues soon! C'mon, I know there are some natural remedies folks out there.

3. Caffeine
A main ingredient in a lot of migraine meds. I've never had any luck with it but some people are able to knock them back with a strong cup of coffee.

My other suggestion is to lie down in a dark room with an eye pillow. I have one that contains lavender and other herbs and it really does help.

Sorry, migraines suck. :(

4. An ice bag and a dark, cool, quiet room.
Peppermint scents help me more than lavendar. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

13. Ice bag on the forehead, heating pad on the neck
and definitely a dark quiet room. I'd also toss in a caffeinated beverage -- Coke seems to sit well on a nauseated stomach and the caffeine helps reverse the migraine but sometimes sleep is really the best remedy. Hope you feel better soon because I know how awful it can be.

14. Vanilla works for some too
Heliotropin, which is a component of vanilla, was found to help people tolerate MRI's better than the control group:

Supposedly, Tahitian vanilla has a higher heliotropin component than Bourbon or Mexican varieties which are different species.

5. Decapitation is the only way.
All other so-called "cures" are hedge magic and snake oil.

6. Herb that helps
Feverfew is a herb that is used for migraine headaches. Doctors are looking at this herb now. It works but they aren't sure why. I use this herb with white willow bark. Very safe. The taste is awful. Maybe not so bad if you used something sweet. White willow bark is a natural pain relief that will not upset or harm your stomach, like aspirin. Two tablespoons of Feverfew leaves, two tablespoons of white willow bark added to one quart of boiled water. Stir, let sit for ten minutes. Strain this through a tea strainer or any strainer that keeps the leaves and bark out of your tea. Drink hot or cold. In one week you should have no more headaches. Drink this everyday. Works on pain in the whole body too. Hope this helps. Herbs are not every persons cup of tea but it is all that I take.

7. Thanks!
I forgot I had some feverfew tea somewhere in my cupboard, but I had also read about white willow bark as well. I will go to get some on hand.

9. If you are someone who avoids sugar, sometimes a migraine will go away
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 05:44 PM by truedelphi
If you have some sugar!

Or honey, if that is your preference. Not much, just a half to one and half teaspoons. Apparently low blood sugar can bring on a migraine to those who are susceptible to them.

15. Just got a Dr Weil newsletter about butterbur for migraines
Here is link to that article
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/TIP02825/Herb-for-Migraines.html

I have fair luck with acupressure point in meaty part of hand between thumb and first finger. I can't take most drugs for migraines, so I look to alternative methods to control them. Not so many anymore. Seems age has SOME perks ;)
