Why do they make children's dance costumes with not enough fabric in the bodice? |
|
I just picked up my daughter's dance costume and she just tried it on. Thankfully this year it is not too tight in the crotch (I had to add 2 inches to crotch last year and it still pulled down on her shoulders).
This year's costume has a black stretchy velvet camisole top with a pink and black tulle tutu (not separate, sewn into the bodysuit) with a pink panty area under the tutu. It is adorable. The straps are not too tight, the crotch is not too tight, but the tutu pulls down on the bodice such that we may have a Janet Jackson moment on stage if I do not do something about it.

I think they are just trying to save money by using less fabric. But it is a pain to alter the damned costumes.

5. we always had issues every year with our kid's dance costumes |
|
too tight in the bodice or too short bodice, we would have to have moms who sew to gather all the costumes and alter every single year.

7. Thankfully I do sew, so I can fix K's costume |
|
It is just a pain in the you know what to do so.
Time to go to the sewing store to get some ball point needles.

8. the sizing runs small on dancewear |
|
and what I want to know is why women's XL in dancewear is really a widened M? They need XL-longs for us tall people. Talk about a wedgie....
(former ballet student, made it to pointe shoes finally at 40!)

9. My daughter is in ballet |

She is a number of years from pointe (she is 6). Not sure if she will hold the interest in ballet long enough to make it to pointe. Maybe jazz or lyrical later on.
