I hate to say it, because I am a total fan of Lewis Black, but "Root of Evil" is awful.

I've watched four or five episodes, and while each has had funny moments, it's not well done and comes across like a bad 1970s variety show.

It feels half-assed and unthoughtful, and not at all like the brilliance and well-developedness of Lewis' other work.

Quite a disappointment.

and there are some parts that are funny but for the most part it is just terrible.

5. Give a funny person their own show

and suddenly they're not funny anymore. I love his stand up and the Back in Black he does on the Daily Show, but ROE is kind of annoying.

There are few good one liners in there I guess, but once you've seen one, you've seen them all.
