I'm officially in a lot of pain!
Monday I pulled a muscle in my chest, and it hurts even worse today.

Hurts to breathe.

And my allergies are making me cough, which makes me want to nearly pass out.

Damn, damn, and fuckity fuck fuck FUCK!

3. Lifting 3 industrial-sized rolls of wrapping paper.
Like the kind you see at department stores. Didn't lift them all together, of course, but doing three of them in a row caused a muscle pull.

8. Yeah, I'm sure it's a muscle.
The area of pain is too large to be a cracked bone.

39. Oh, sweetie! Can you get to a doctor to give you something for it....
Robaxin (muscle relaxant)?

Just plain Percocet (Roxicet)?

Or Aleve -- over the counter (helped me with inflammation)

Feel better -- let us know if there's anything else we can do.

Cordially,

Radio Lady Ellen

Not for the longest time, but I remember how much that hurt too.

13. get one of those topical pain things with capiscin, salicylic acid and slather it on
I like those a lot, and they do help. The capiscin heats up the muscle and relaxes it.

16. Me too, sweet girl
I have MS, which hurts all the time. And I got gay bashed a few days ago (my body looks like someone colored it with blue and purple crayons) and I think they may have done more damage than I first thought.

But life doesn't always not suck.

Hope you feel better soon.

Love,
Khash.

No Ibuprophen in the house, but I have to go out for a meeting in a bit, so I'll pick some up then.

25. I suggest you start with 2 or 3 first
before you go for the full 4. You my find that 2 or 3 does the trick.

30. nomad, you were right!
I did get some ibuprophen on my way to my meeting today, and the pain, while still there somewhat, has diminished so much, it's amazing. I can actually breathe (and, unfortunately, cough) without involuntarily uttering sounds of pain.

Simple solution with great results.

Thanks again.

26. Isn't there anything you can take?
There are some pretty strong OTC allery medications. I'm not qualified to advise, of course, but for me that Drixoral really brings it under control. I'm sure the local pharmacist can help.

Same with the pain. Again, speaking solely for myself, I find ibuprofen (Advil) works very well on muscle-pain and post-op dental pain.

29. Misery
loves company. I'll suffer with you. I've been seeing a special psychologist who is trying to assist me in not needing my pain meds. I've been going off the 'stuff', for a week now. All my own endorphines are on vacation since they have had an artificial helper to do their job. I've had places on my spine that were well under control decide to wake back up and remined me that they are held together with screws and plates. So I can understand. Sorry, that it is so painful to breathe. You can't really supress allergic reactions either. Remember the heat and cold alternating for comfort. Sometimes an ice pack sounds like it could kill you but it also numbs and reduces the red inflamation. The warm packs feel good but you dont want to swell up the area by making it too warm. Good luck getting better.

34. Does the psychologist specialize in pain management issues?
I'm a vocational counselor, and have had clients go through pain management programs to help wean them off pain meds.

Hope you get through this okay.

38. Yes, he is
and we even talked about in-patient but I think I'll be ok without that. He wants me to do guided imagery, stay in the present, and not to 'resist' the pain. If I fight it I become more tense. It's a part of me and I have to become the pain and accept it. At the same time I'm trying not to let a pain syndrome define my life and who I am. I'm trying not to bore my friends with the running commentary of my aches and pains. I have been kind of a whiner. Sometime I see myself in the Lyrica advertisements 'Oh my fibromyalgia, my muscles so tender to the touch' blech. God, where's my compassion, but it makes me sick to hear the 'my fibro this', 'my fibro that', as if it's an entity. I don't have fibromyalgia but more like pins and needles numbness and tingling in my legs and feet. This commentary is a fine example of my self absorption with my ego running my existence. I'm aware but not over myself yet. BTW, I'm working with a vocational counselor to find a job that I will be able to do. I might have to pick your brain.
