I just wanted to post something before my orange blossom makes it too hard to find the keys

Thank you DU for increasing my typing speed, exponentially. I think I typed maybe 20 words a minute when I got here a few years ago. Now, I type like a professional secretary. It's actually been an incredible help in my nursing career and I owe it all to DU. Check out my profile - I'm just 800 posts from 10,000 and they all have been at least a couple of sentences. I used to have to look at the keyboard as I typed - now I sit in my dark room with my laptop and my standard poodle snoring beside me (hence the reason for the dark room. I certainly can't have him losing his beauty sleep just because I'm addicted to you people!) doing touch typing without seeing a single key.

1. you say touch type

do you mean the 10-finger, asdf/jkl; method? I ask because I'm absolutely amazed at the amount of people in this day and age that can't type, or type with two fingers. I'm in the IT biz, and many of my coworkers (at least in the UK) can't type worth crap. I get impatient when working, and want to take the keyboard from them!

2. Yeah, I learned in high school, lo those many, many years ago

but it didn't really jell until DU when I needed to correct everyone on their misconceptions right now and well, got better at the typing in the process. I'm definitely a home key kind of girl.
