The starting pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, a MLB team in the American League, Francisco Liriano just gave up 6 runs in the bottom half of the first inning today; he lasted 2/3 of an inning.

Two years ago, as a rookie, he was on track to winning the Cy Young award, the highest honor for a pitcher in baseball. Then, he blew out his shoulder and had to have surgery; a particular procedure called "Tommy John surgery" which was named for pitcher Tommy John on whom it was performed, allowing him to return to baseball and finish a successful career. In the past, injuries like this ended baseball careers.

After having sat out all of last season, Liriano made his comeback this year. The results have been less than stellar. The worry is that he will not regain his impressive form before his injury.
