The best possible news!

I saw the doctor today, two weeks after my first round of chemo. I had a chest x-ray on Tuesday and she came in beaming with the results -- no visible signs of cancer in my lungs! It's working! Not only that, my cervix looks normal and the tumor in my uterus continues to shrink. We actually started discussing what we're going to do when I first the next two rounds of chemo. I realize that cancer can go away and come back but this is the best possible step in the right direction!

After we shared a few tears of happiness, we shared a good laugh. There has been some disagreement about whether I have a carcinoma (MD Anderson's opinion) or a mixed carcinoma/sarcoma (Austin's opinion.) So my doctor says, "Well, I don't care if it's named George or Herman, the chemo is working!" So I commented that I think I'll name it George because I sure hate him enough and that makes it easy to visualize kicking the crap out of it. My doctor and nurse burst into laughter while we made a few more jokes at George's expense. Finally, I said, "Let's get rid of both Georges in 2008!" :D

85. No, we had a "low ball" offer today from someone who wants to steal it.

BS totally. We're competing in a buyer's market with a massive number foreclosures, people who are desparate to sell, jobs elsewhere, kids and family elsewhere, divorcing, etc. etc. There's always a story, right?

The good news is we can easily stay where we are. We do not have to move -- but we would like the smaller home. It would be easier to care for. Oh, well. Same thing happened in Massachusetts. Someone came in with a very low offer and my husband was offended. We waited about another month and one-half, and sold it at a good price.

Anyway, we went over to the new house and it looks really good. We have until June 2 to try and make this work.

65. I think I'm finally allowing myself to enjoy this news!

I know I'm not "cured" and I know that once it's gone it can and likely will come back. There's a reason they call it Stage IV. But the fact that it's responding to this first chemo drug so quickly means I've got more time and I've got more options later on. So I'm ready to embrace this for the hopeful news that it is.

:hug: I'm very happy for you and I hope you continue to kick George's ass Attitude really means a lot, I think, in cancer recovery. When my dad found out that none of his chemo was helping he was dead within a week even though the doctors had said he had up to 6 months. He was in a great deal of pain and I can't be angry with him for resigning himself to it but I do believe that if he would have fought back he would have lived for several months more. Gah, I don't mean to bring downer vibes into this celebration. I wish you an abundance of energy to fight and many, many years of good health and happiness to come!

I do believe that attitude can have an effect if for no other reason that it can affect our we keep ourselves strong enough to withstand the treatment. That said, there are many people who stayed positive and did everything they could to survive and didn't make it. My grandmother and father also decided that they were ready to go but they were 84 and 75, respectively. I'm *only* 52 and I'm not ready at all! I have four 20-something children who are making plans to start families and a husband with whom I planned to spend many more years. I also have five dogs who would be lost without me. :)

So I'm giving it everything I've got! Thanks! :hug:
